Are you in Barcelona, but you do not know where you can go for free? No problem, we got you! People think that Barcelona can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be!
When you are in Barcelona there are a lot of things you can visit for free, like Arc de Triomf, Carmel Bunkers, Magic Fountain Show etc. In this blog you are going to read 9 places which you can visit for free. Let’s start with Arc de Triomf!
Arc de Triomf
Arc de Triomf is a monumental structure in the shape of an art.
Arc de Triomf was built in Barcelona in 1888 as an entrance to the fair which was held in Parc de ciutadella. If you walk through Arc de Triomf in the evening, most of the time there will be people dancing and singing, the atmosphere is very fun! We definitely recommend you to go to Arc de Triomf!
Carmel Bunkers
If you want to have a 360 view of the city, Carmel bunker is the place to be! You can go with the bus to Gran Vista – Turo de la Rovira, from there you have to walk for only 7 minutes (400 m). I recommend you to go there at sunset. The view will be amazingly good. You can bring some food and drinks with you, sit on the rocks, and enjoy the view. The public park is open 24/7.
La Rambla
Walking through the La Rambla is the best way to start your morning. It’s a long walk ( 1 km / 6 miles ) but it is essential for your Barcelona experience. In the morning it will be more of a local vibe, in the evenings it will be very busy. You can see historical buildings and go to shops, history, culture and entertainment all in one! La Rambla connects to Placa Catalunya which is a big square considered as the city center of Barcelona. La Rambla is also one of the most popular places to visit for tourists. The atmosphere is electric, there are artists, street performers. The closest metro station is ´Liceu´.
Architecture from the outside
Most of the architecture in Barcelona charge admission fees if you want to go inside the building. You can also enjoy the view of the architecture from the outside. For example: Casa Batllo, Casa Mila etc. You can find these on Passeig de Gracia. You can also visit Sagrada Familia, which is beautiful from the inside as the outside.
Barceloneta
If the weather is nice, and if the sun is shining, we recommend you to go to Barceloneta. After a whole day walking or sightseeing you can rest on the beach. The beach is very beautiful and has a lot of restaurants near which you can visit. But if you want to stay on your budget, just bring some snacks with you and enjoy it on the beach!
Barri Gotic
Barri Gotic is the oldest part of Barcelona, you can recognize it from the small streets. While you are walking through Barri Gotic you can find a lot of bars, shops, restaurants etc. In the heart of Barri Gotic you can find the colossal cathedral which is as beautiful on the inside as the outside. The church is open in the mornings and evenings for free, if you go in the afternoon you will have to pay for the entry.
Placa Reial
Placa Reial is in Barri Gotic, if you go to Placa Reial make sure to see Gaudi’s first work for Barcelona, namely lamp post featuring coiled dragon headed serpents leading up to a winged helmet.
Park Ciutadella
If you walk through Arc de Triomf you can see Park Ciutadella. It is a giant playground for all ages. It is a public park which you can visit 24 hours a day. Parc Ciutadella is Barcelona´s largest park and it is very popular. Near the park there is Arc de Triomf and there is also Barcelona Zoo nearby.
The Magic Fountain
The Magic Fountain is a combination of water, music and lights. The show is designed for the universal exhibition in 1929. After that the show was restored, and ever since then it has been very popular.
